Why we built Foliopeak

Every serious investor we talked to had the same setup: a pension somewhere, a Stocks & Shares ISA somewhere else, maybe a Lifetime ISA, some cash, a property, and no single place that added it all up. The honest answer to "what's your net worth?" was usually a shrug, or a spreadsheet nobody had opened since March.

The tools that already exist split into two camps. Open Banking apps solve the update problem by connecting to your accounts - you sign in at your own bank, and the app gets regulated, read-only access you can withdraw. It's genuinely convenient, but it only reaches what a bank or provider will connect. Spreadsheets solve the trust problem - nothing to link, nothing to leak - but they solve nothing else: nothing that knows about the tax year, no goal tracking, nothing automatic.

Foliopeak is built for the accounts Open Banking handles badly anyway: pensions with no live balance, property, private investments, joint accounts split with a partner. You update them yourself - takes under a minute a week for most people - and in exchange there's no connection to your accounts at all - nothing to approve, renew or cancel.

What you get instead of a bank link is everything a spreadsheet can't do on its own: how much of your ISA and Lifetime ISA allowance you've used this tax year, your yearly pension allowance and any unused allowance from past years, a chart of your net worth over time, where your goals are heading, and a monthly review that's built into the habit, not a separate thing you have to remember to do.

You're reading this while Foliopeak is still being tested. The core is built and working, but a full money app covers a lot of ground, and we'd rather find the rough edges with a small group of real users than after a big public launch.
